About the project: Neil and Jean-Claude wanted to replace the existing kitchen and fit out the study to make a more usable working space.

Here’s what Neil had to say about the renovation:

When did you do the renovation?  June 2020.

What was the aim of the renovation? To replace the existing kitchen and provide more bench space, we also replaced the floor through much of the apartment and fitted out the study to make a more usable working space for us both.

How did you meet Javier? We were introduced by a builder friend, Neil Hartley, over 10 years ago and this is the third kitchen Javier has done for us.

What rooms were renovated? Kitchen and study, and we had cabinetry made for the lounge and dining rooms.

How long did the renovation take?  Around 4 months from the planning stage but the actual installation was a couple of weeks.

What were your expectations re the joinery? From our experience with Javier we knew we were going to get quality and we spent a lot of time together working to ensure the end result was as practical and beautiful as possible.

Favourite joinery in the house - and why? We love the glass cabinet in the dining room. Javier installed that when we moved in 5 years ago but we changed the glass to fluted to match the cupboards in the kitchen.

Unexpected advantages of the new joinery? When we moved in the kitchen was really dark and we couldn’t put lighting in the ceiling. Now with all the lighting integrated in the cabinetry, we can, at last, see what we are doing.

Would you recommend Javier and i space? He has done work for a number of our friends on our recommendation and we have just briefed him on some new furniture for our bedroom, so yes!
